Breeding Rules
  1. The breeding age for male dogs is 24 months and for females 20 months. It is further clarified that the female must be 20 months or more when the actual mating takes place.
  2. The closest line breeding permissible is 2-3 or 3-2
  3. Dogs must be graded at least “GOOD” at a dog show to qualify for a breed survey.
  4. Any dog that has a disqualifying fault, (long coat, missing teeth etc) will not be permitted to breed and no papers will be issued to its offspring.
  5. As per rules no dog or bitch can be accepted for Breed Survey unless graded with the minimum qualification "GOOD".
Henceforth, pups bred from a dog or bitch not graded "GOOD" will not be eligible for tattooing nor will pedigree papers be issued to them. It will therefore be a requirement for the Breeder to present the Award Card in the case of a dog or bitch not Breed Surveyed to the Tattooer at the time of applying for the litter to be Tattooed.
Club officials responsible for accepting dogs for Breed Survey and the officially accredited Tattooers are advised to ensure compliance to avoid any hardship.
  6. As per rules, if a GSD registered with the KCP and issued papers by the GSDCP is sold to a non-member of the KCP or GSDCP the pedigree and/or Breed Survey shall become null and void and the dog/bitch so sold will be struck off the register of the KCP/GSDCP. Breeders and owners are hereby cautioned that the papers issued by the KCP/GSDCP belong to the KCP/GSDCP and they are to be returned to the KCP/GSDCP if the dog is sold to a non-member. The onus of responsibility lies upon the breeder/owner of the dog concerned. The KCP/GSDCP reserve the right to take action as may be deemed appropriate in case of violation of the rules. With immediate effect it has been decided that only a member of the GSDCP or KCP shall enter and exhibit a German Shepherd Dog at an event organized by the GSDCP.

The existing rule that only a dog/bitch graded with a minimum rating of “Good” shall be allowed to be bred from will be strictly enforced. Henceforth, only a dog/bitch graded “Good” will be allowed to apply for a Breed Survey. The age for Breed Survey will remain the same i.e after attaining 18 months.
The WUSV conference in Ulm 2005 unanimously decided that no VA grading overseas at a Sieger Show shall be after 2007 given to a dog/bitch that does not possess a training qualification, pass the courage test at the show breed survey, hip clearance “a” stamp and DNA check. The GSDCP will therefore step up the program to install all these requirements well before the cut off date. The Breeding Committee will decide which of these requirements can be implemented by the end of the year 2006.

Breeders will henceforth report to the National Breed Warden incidence of long-hair pups prior to issue of the pedigrees so that these maybe appropriately stamped. It is the onus of the breeder to point out to the buyer of such pups that they are long-hair and that this is a disqualification from breeding and showing.

Stud certificates are required to be issued and forwarded to the GSDCP within 15 days of such stud having taken place. This is not being followed in all cases. The Club's official Tattooists are being advised to confirm receipt of the stud certificate with the Secretary of the GSDCP prior to making a request to the NBW for tattooing.
  7. Statement of the Breed Registry of the German Shepherd Dog Association (SV)After the Breed Registry was informed that the dog “Nero vom Nöbachtal, SZ-Nr. 2080775” had covered bitches abroad, the SV managing committee decided to give the following advice to the relevant associations abroad, and moreover to the bitch owners in Germany, warning them of the offspring of “Nero vom Nöbachtal” which were born after the 9th August 2004 (date on which the offspring registration ban legally came into effect). The associations abroad were told that since we have now discovered that the dog Nero vom Nöbachtal is to be used in their country as a stud dog, we would like to point out that an offspring registration ban has been imposed by the SV on this dog since 09th August 2004. Therefore offspring from this dog, even if they are registered in their country in the breed register, will not be included in our breed register.

This means that should an application be made for offspring from this dog to be registered in the SV Breed Register, it will be rejected by us with reference to the relevant regulations. This means, de facto, that these dogs will also be banned from registering in the German Breed Register (breeding prohibited). In order to be able to register dogs in Germany in the Breed Register, it is necessary, in accordance with Paragraph 4.1.1 of the Breeding Regulations, that the parent animals are themselves included in the SV Breed Register.

The exhibition of these dogs is also not possible, since the SV does not judge the confirmation itself, but instead gives a breed assessment, and in accordance with the conformation show rules, dogs which have an offspring registration ban imposed on them are not permitted to take part in conformation shows of the SV. This applies to all dogs that are fathered by Nero vom Nöbachtal after the offspring registration ban came into force.

We would be grateful, if the foreign associations were also to decide to impose an offspring registration ban, since this would certainly be opportune in protecting bitch owners. The Breed Registry of the SV

In accordance with the request of the SV, the GSDCP has decided to impose a similar ban with immediate effect. Hence no offspring of the dog Nero vom Nobachtal born after August 9th 2004 will be registered by the GSDCP/KCP.

  8. Effective 01.01.2006 the KCP has imposed a fee of Rs.100/- per pedigree issued by the GSDCP. For the current year 2006, the GSDCP has decided to absorb this charge and the fee of Rs.500/- per pedigree will remain unchanged.

  9. Dogs imported from overseas are required to be registered with the KCP within six months from the date of their import into Pakistan and acquire a KCP registration number. All owners/exhibitors are hereby advised that in case this requirement is not fulfilled, the dogs will not be eligible to be exhibited at shows licensed under KCP rules and regulations.
    1. It is to be noted that dogs registered with the AKC, Kennel Club England, SV, AKU and other recognized member clubs may compete in shows licensed by the KCP with the parent club registration numbers for a period of six months on the reciprocal basis agreed upon between the organizations.
    2. For GSDs the application may be made directly to the GSDCP for registration and transfer accompanied by the standard registration fee as may be amended from time to time
  10. No male dog shall be used at stud until he attains the age of 2 years and must pass the Breed Survey before he is used at stud for the first time. This rule shall become effective immediately except in such cases where a mating has already taken place.
  11. No female shall be bred from before attaining 20 months age and must pass the Breed Survey before being mated for the first time. This rule shall become effective immediately except in such cases where a mating has already taken place.

  12. Life breed survey following 2 years after the first survey must be undertaken by the dog/bitch when it becomes due. Breeding can only be done under a valid survey. If there is a break the dog/bitch cannot be bred from until such time as this is rectified and the dog is once again surveyed. In the event of a break of six months and above the dog/bitch will not be automatically surveyed for life but for a period of one year at first and for life when presented the following year.
  13. Male dogs being used at stud must, between the ages of 2-4 years, be shown at least once during a calendar year at a GSDCP Championship Show judged by the President, the National Breed Warden, or a foreign judge. This is considered essential so as to permit judges, breeders and owners to know the condition and development of a stud that is influencing the development of the breed in the country.
  14. Rules 1-3 will bring to an end the issuance of White Pedigrees and encourage the increase in the number of Breed Surveys throughout the year.
  15. Group Breed Wardens are required to be extremely proactive to ensure that no Breeder misses the opportunity to breed from their dogs due to either lack of awareness or the possibility to enable fulfillment of breeding requirements.
  16. White Pedigrees shall henceforth only be issued to pups born from parents who have failed the Breed Survey due to either not passing the attack test (when implemented) or possessing BH working grading (when implemented), except under exceptional circumstances.

  17.  These rules shall be construed to amend and supersede any other existing rule which may contain anything to the contrary.
